To lead and manage the Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) functions for plastic engineering operations, ensuring that all products meet customer specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements. The Quality Head drives continuous improvement, defect reduction, and customer satisfaction through robust quality systems and process control.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Quality Management & Strategy
Develop, implement, and maintain the organization's Quality Management System (QMS) in compliance with ISO 9001 / IATF 16949 / ISO 14001 (as applicable).
Establish quality policies, objectives, and key performance indicators (KPIs) aligned with organizational goals.
Drive quality culture across the plant through training, communication, and leadership.
2. Process & Product Quality Control
Monitor in-process inspection, testing, and validation of plastic components (injection molding, extrusion, blow molding, etc.).
Ensure that all incoming raw materials, in-process parts, and finished goods meet quality standards.
Approve first-article inspections, PPAP (Production Part Approval Process), and FAI documentation for new product development.
Oversee defect analysis, root cause investigation, and implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
3. Supplier Quality Management
Evaluate, audit, and approve suppliers for raw materials, tools, and components.
Ensure supplier quality through regular audits, quality agreements, and performance monitoring.
Lead supplier development initiatives to improve consistency and reduce defects.
4. Customer Quality & Complaints Handling
Act as the key contact for customer quality issues and audits.
Manage customer complaints, warranty claims, and corrective action plans (8D / 5 Why analysis).
Ensure timely response to customer issues and maintain strong communication with OEMs and Tier 1 clients.
5. Continuous Improvement & Lean Initiatives
Drive continual improvement programs using tools such as Kaizen, Six Sigma, and 5S.
Monitor process capability studies (Cp, Cpk), SPC, and control charts to maintain process stability.
Optimize inspection methods and testing systems for efficiency and reliability.
6. Team Leadership & Training
Lead a team of quality engineers, inspectors, and technicians.
Develop team capabilities through technical training and performance management.
Foster a culture of ownership, precision, and accountability in quality operations.
Skills & Competencies:
Strong knowledge of
plastic engineering processes
(injection molding, extrusion, blow molding, thermoforming, etc.)
Expertise in
quality tools
- 7 QC Tools, FMEA, APQP, PPAP, MSA, SPC, and CAPA
Familiarity with
ISO/IATF standards
and customer-specific quality requirements
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills
Strong communication and customer handling abilities
Qualifications & Experience:
Education:
B.E. / B.Tech in Plastic Engineering / Polymer Technology / Mechanical Engineering
Experience:
10-15 years in quality management within the plastic manufacturing or automotive components industry
