The Quality Head is responsible for leading the entire Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) function, ensuring that all materials, fabrication processes, welding, assembly, and dispatch activities meet the company's quality standards and customer requirements. This role ensures zero-defect manufacturing, compliance with PEB standards, and continuous improvement across the organization.
Develop, implement, and maintain the overall quality management system (QMS).
Lead and guide the QA/QC team, including inspectors, welding supervisors, and NDT technicians.
Establish quality standards, SOPs, and inspection procedures for all processes.
2. Fabrication & Welding Quality Control
Ensure steel fabrication, welding, CNC cutting, fitting, and painting follow approved drawings and specifications.
Approve WPS (Welding Procedure Specification), PQR, WPQ for fabrication team.
Monitor welding quality and ensure compliance with PEB industry standards.
3. Inspection & Testing
Oversee dimensional checks, visual inspections, NDT testing (UT, RT, DP, MPI), and final QC inspections.
Approve incoming material quality (plates, sections, bolts, hardware, paint).
Ensure all inspection checklists, reports, NCRs, and quality documentation are properly maintained.
4. Process Improvement & Defect Control
Identify defects, rework patterns, and quality issues; implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
Optimize production processes to reduce rejection and improve productivity.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives (5S, Kaizen, Lean).
5. Customer Coordination
Coordinate with clients, consultants, and third-party inspectors (TPI) during inspections.
Address customer complaints with root cause analysis and submit CAPA reports.
Ensure product quality meets client specifications before dispatch.
6. Compliance & Documentation
Maintain QAP (Quality Assurance Plan), ITP (Inspection Test Plan), MTCs, and QA documentation.
Ensure compliance with ISO standards and other industry codes.
Maintain traceability from raw materials to finished goods.
7. Team Management
Train and mentor QC inspectors, welders, and shop-floor teams on quality standards.
Monitor team performance and enforce discipline and accountability.
Ensure safety and quality culture across departments.
Skills & Requirements
Degree/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or relevant field.
7-15 years of QA/QC experience in PEB or structural steel industry.
Strong knowledge of welding standards, fabrication QA, steel structures, and NDT.
Familiar with QMS, ISO documentation, and PEB quality processes.
Strong leadership, analytical skills, and problem-solving capability.
Good communication and client coordination skills.
