Job Purpose



To lead the organization's overall Quality function, ensuring that supplier quality, in-process quality, final product quality, and customer quality requirements are consistently met. The role is responsible for defining and executing quality strategy, strengthening Quality Management Systems (QMS), driving continuous improvement, ensuring regulatory and customer compliance, safeguarding product safety, and building a strong culture of quality excellence across the organization.

Key Responsibilities



1. Quality Management System (QMS)

Develop, implement, and sustain the organization's Quality Management System (QMS) in line with ISO 9001 / IATF / IMS and regulatory requirements.

Establish, deploy, and govern quality policies, procedures, SOPs, and work instructions to ensure consistent product quality and compliance with customer specifications.

Ensure effective implementation of internal audits, management review meetings (MRM), document control, and corrective action systems.

Drive Digital QMS implementation, analytics-based dashboards, and data transparency for real-time quality decision-making.

2. Quality Assurance

Define and approve quality standards, inspection criteria, and testing protocols for incoming materials, in-process manufacturing, and finished products.

Conduct regular system, process, and product audits to ensure compliance and identify opportunities for improvement.

Ensure product safety, risk management, and compliance are embedded into design and manufacturing processes.

3. Quality Control

Implement and govern robust quality control tools and methodologies including SPC, FMEA, MSA, RCA, 8D, CAPA, and Control Plans.

Monitor in-house rejections, rework, and repetitive issues through structured root cause analysis and corrective actions.

Exercise authority to stop production and/or dispatch in case of any quality, compliance, or product safety risk.

4. Supplier Quality Management

Define supplier quality standards and evaluate supplier performance through audits, scorecards, and PPM tracking.

Lead supplier audits, PPAP approvals, and supplier development initiatives.

Collaborate with procurement and supply chain teams to resolve supplier quality issues and strengthen end-to-end supply chain quality performance.

5. Customer Satisfaction & Warranty Management

Own customer quality performance including complaints, PPM trends, returns, warranty claims, and customer scorecards.

Lead customer claim and warranty management, ensuring root cause identification and effective closure through 8D methodology.

Act as the primary interface for customers on quality matters, customer audits, and non-conformance closure.

6. New Product Development (NPD) & Change Management

Ensure quality ownership in NPD, APQP, and ECN (Engineering Change Notices).

Drive APQP, PPAP, and process capability validation before SOP, ensuring readiness and risk mitigation.

Ensure quality risk assessment and validation are completed prior to new product or process release.

7. Continuous Improvement & Operational Excellence

Lead Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, Poka-Yoke, and defect prevention initiatives.

Drive reduction in defects, COPQ, waste, and process variability while improving productivity and process capability.

Link continuous improvement initiatives with ESG goals, focusing on waste reduction, sustainability, and responsible manufacturing.

8. Calibration, Measurement & Governance

Establish and govern calibration systems, MSA practices, and measurement integrity across the organization.

Ensure accuracy, traceability, and compliance of all measuring and testing equipment.

9. Cross-Functional Collaboration

Partner closely with engineering, production, purchase, maintenance, sales, and supply chain teams to resolve quality issues.

Act as the quality champion and integrator across all functions, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.

10. Regulatory & Standards Compliance

Stay updated on regulatory, statutory, customer-specific, and industry standards.

Ensure ongoing compliance with ISO 9001 / IATF / IMS / product safety norms and customer audits.

11. Strategic Leadership & Organization Development

Demonstrate strategic thinking in designing and deploying quality improvement roadmaps aligned with business growth.

Define and strengthen quality organization structure, capability building, and succession planning.

Lead quality training, talent development, and competency enhancement across levels to build a strong "Quality First" culture.

12. Performance Monitoring & Reporting

Track, analyze, and present key quality KPIs including PPM, FPY, COPQ, NCRs, audit outcomes, warranty data, and customer complaints.

Lead Red Bin meetings and cross-functional reviews for rejection and defect analysis.

Ensure timely closure of 8D, CAPA, and audit action items.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (Mechanical / Electronics acceptable)

15+ years of experience in Quality Management / Quality Assurance in a manufacturing environment

Strong expertise in ISO 9001, IATF, IMS, Six Sigma, SPC, FMEA, MSA, PPAP, APQP

Hands-on experience with ERP / SAP or similar systems

Skills & Competencies

Proven leadership in implementing and sustaining robust QMS

Strong strategic, analytical, and data-driven decision-making capability

Excellent leadership, communication, stakeholder, and team management skills

Experience in electromechanical / component / automotive manufacturing preferred

Quality certifications (ASQ CQE / CQM / Six Sigma) are an added advantage

Strong business acumen and problem-solving mindset

Key Result Areas (KRAs)

YoY reduction in customer complaints and warranty claims

Reduction in customer and internal PPM

Reduction in Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ)

Improvement in FPY and reduction in rework and warranty cost

Supplier PPM improvement and supplier development progress

On-time PPAP submissions and approvals

Compliance to ISO / IATF / customer audits

Deployment of MQAP and process capability improvement

On-time closure of 8D and CAPA actions

Improvement in Quality Culture Index and "Quality First Mindset"

Salary range : 18 - 20 LPA
Notice Period : One or two month (Max).
Min work experience : 15 to 20 years & Minimum 5 to 7 years in Leadership role
