Job Purpose
The QA/QC Head is responsible for establishing, implementing, and monitoring the Quality Management System to ensure that all construction activities comply with approved specifications, drawings, IS codes, contractual requirements, and statutory regulations. The role ensures delivery of projects with the highest quality standards, minimizing rework and defects. Key Responsibilities
1. Quality Management System
Develop, implement, and maintain the Project Quality Plan (PQP).
Establish QA/QC procedures, Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), checklists, and method statements.
Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, client quality standards, and contract specifications.
Periodically review and update quality documentation.
2. Site Quality Control
Monitor construction activities to ensure execution as per approved drawings, specifications, and ITPs.
Ensure quality control for civil, structural, finishing, MEP, waterproofing, facade, roads, and external works, Infrastructure works.
Conduct stage-wise inspections and approvals before proceeding to next activities.
Ensure proper material inspection, sampling, and testing at site and approved laboratories.
3. Material & Vendor Quality
Approve material submittals, technical datasheets, and samples.
Evaluate and approve vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors from a quality perspective.
Ensure incoming materials comply with approved specifications and standards.
Control and monitor material traceability and test certificates.
4. Testing & Inspection
Coordinate and review field and laboratory tests (concrete, steel, soil, aggregates, bituminous works, finishing materials, etc.).
Verify calibration of testing equipment.
Review test results and ensure corrective actions for non-conformities.
Witness third-party inspections and audits as required.
5. Non-Conformance & Corrective Actions
Identify, issue, and close NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports).
Analyze root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions.
Minimize rework through proactive quality planning and monitoring.
6. Documentation & Reporting
Maintain complete quality records, inspection reports, test reports, checklists, and as-built documents.
Prepare and submit periodic Quality Reports to management and clients & Consultants.
Support project handover documentation and snag-free completion.
7. Client, Consultant & Authority Coordination
Act as the single point of contact for quality-related discussions with clients, consultants, PMCs, and statutory authorities.
Attend quality meetings, audits, and inspections.
Ensure timely closure of consultant/client observations.
8. Team Leadership & Training
Lead, mentor, and supervise QA/QC engineers and inspectors.
Conduct quality awareness and training programs for site teams.
Promote a strong quality culture across projects.
9. Audits & Continuous Improvement
Plan and conduct internal quality audits.
Support external audits and certifications.
Identify opportunities for quality improvement and cost optimization.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
Certifications in ISO 9001 / Quality Management will be an advantage.
Experience
Minimum 12-18 years of relevant experience in construction quality.
At least 5+ years in a leadership role as QA/QC Head or Senior QA/QC Manager.
Experience in high-rise buildings, infrastructure, industrial or large-scale projects preferred.
Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge of IS Codes, ASTM, BS, and project specifications.
Excellent understanding of construction methodologies and quality controls.
Strong leadership, communication, and coordination skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and teams.
Proficiency in MS Office and quality documentation systems.
