The Quality Head is responsible for establishing, implementing, and monitoring the entire quality management system across the factory--from raw material inspection to final shipment. This role ensures that all garments meet global buyer standards while driving continuous improvement across quality processes.
Key Responsibilities
1. Quality Strategy & Leadership
Define and lead the overall quality strategy for the factory.
Develop SOPs, quality manuals, and standardized systems for quality checkpoints.
Lead implementation of AQL, TQM, and continuous improvement practices.
2. Fabric & Raw Material Control
Oversee 4-point inspection for fabrics and trims quality evaluations.
Approve fabric lots and trims before production begins.
Ensure vendor quality compliance for raw materials.
3. Production Quality Management
Monitor quality across all production stages--cutting, sewing, embroidery/printing, washing, and finishing.
Set quality KPIs (RFT %, rework %, defects %).
Ensure inline and online quality is maintained consistently.
4. Team Management & Training
Lead and manage QC Managers, Supervisors, and Checkers.
Conduct regular training on buyer quality standards, defect identification, and SOP compliance.
Build a culture of quality awareness across the factory floor.
5. Buyer & Audit Management
Represent the company during buyer audits, PP meetings, and inline/final inspections.
Maintain strong communication with buyers, buying houses, and third-party auditors.
Address buyer complaints and ensure corrective action plans.
6. Final Inspection & Shipment Approval
Approve final AQL levels before shipment.
Ensure packing, measurements, labeling, and finishing meet buyer specifications.
Zero-defect shipment leadership.
7. Continuous Improvement
Analyze quality failures and lead root-cause analysis (RCA).
Execute CAPA (Corrective & Preventive Actions).
Reduce rejection, rework, and alteration levels.
Improve productivity and efficiency through quality-driven processes.
8. Compliance & Documentation
Maintain accurate quality documentation, reports, and audit trails.
Ensure compliance with buyer standards, safety norms, and factory regulations.
Skills & Competencies
Strong technical knowledge of garment manufacturing (knits/wovens).
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Hands-on knowledge of sewing operations, fabric properties, finishing, and trims.
Leadership and team management abilities.
Strong communication with buyers and internal departments.
Expertise in AQL, TQM, lean quality systems.
Qualifications & Experience
Degree/Diploma in Textile Engineering, Apparel Technology, or Quality Management.
10+yrs
of experience in garment manufacturing quality, with minimum 5 years in a leadership role.
Experience working with export buyers preferred.
