About the Role:



We're hiring a

Quality Expert

with a strong mechanical engineering background to lead quality assurance and control in our

EOT crane and heavy fabrication operations

. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in

welding, fabrication, testing and inspection

, with a proven track record of driving product excellence in a heavy engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities



Quality Planning & Documentation



Develop and manage

Quality Control Plans (QCP)

,

Quality Assurance Plans (QAP)

,

Inspection & Test Plans (ITP)

and all quality documentation as per ISO and customer requirements. Ensure alignment with project specifications, IS/DIN standards and regulatory compliance.

Material & Incoming Inspection



Inspect raw materials and critical components (steel plates, sections, motors, gearboxes, etc.) against

Material Test Certificates (MTCs)

and engineering specifications. Ensure traceability of materials and compliance with supplier quality standards.

Fabrication & In-Process Inspection



Conduct stage-wise inspections during

fabrication, machining, welding and assembly

of crane structures such as girders, end carriages, trolleys, hooks and rope drums. Verify

cutting, fit-up, alignment, dimensional accuracy, tolerances and surface finish

as per fabrication drawings. Ensure correct usage of jigs/fixtures for maintaining accuracy and minimize distortion during fabrication.

Welding Quality Assurance



Approve and monitor

Welding Procedure Specification (WPS)

,

Procedure Qualification Record (PQR)

and

Welder Performance Qualification (WPQ)

documentation. Oversee welding activities

MIG

(Metal Inert Gas welding),

SMAW

(Shielded Metal Arc Welding),

SAW

(Submerged Arc Welding) and ensure compliance with visual inspection and

Non-Destructive Testing (NDT)

methods such as

Ultrasonic Testing (UT)

,

Radiographic Testing (RT)

,

Penetrant Testing (PT)

and

Magnetic Particle Testing (MT)

. Coordinate with qualified welders and third-party inspectors for critical welds.

Final Inspection & Testing



Carry out functional testing, static & dynamic load testing and final inspection of EOT cranes as per

IS (

Indian Standards

) 4137, IS 3177, IS 807

and relevant

DIN (

Deutsches Institut fur Normung

) standards

. Document inspection and test results and issue compliance certifications.

Customer & TPI Coordination



Coordinate with clients and

Third-Party Inspection (TPI)

agencies during all stages of fabrication and quality inspection. Ensure smooth documentation handover and resolve quality queries or deviations.

Non-Conformance & RCA



Manage

Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs)

, conduct

Root Cause Analysis (RCA)

and implement

Corrective & Preventive Actions (CAPA)

. Monitor and minimize recurring issues through process improvements.

Supplier Quality Assurance



Audit and evaluate vendors supplying fabricated parts, bought-out mechanical items, and electrical components. Implement incoming inspection protocols and drive vendor quality improvement initiatives.

Continuous Improvement & Training



Promote quality best practices through

5S, Kaizen and Lean Manufacturing

initiatives on the shop floor. Train operators, welders and inspectors on fabrication QA, welding standards and inspection methods.

Candidate Requirements



Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering. 7-10 years of experience in quality assurance/control within

EOT cranes, heavy fabrication, or rolling mills

. Proficient in

welding inspection, fabrication QA, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), mechanical testing and NDT techniques

. Strong working knowledge of

IS

(Indian Standards) /

ISO

(International Organization for Standardization) /

DIN

(Deutsches Institut fur Normung) standards, fabrication drawings and quality documentation. Hands-on experience with

customer audits, TPI(Third-Party Inspection) coordination and ISO 9001 QMS (Quality Management System)

.

ASNT (American Society for Non destructive Testing) Level II
