The Quality Executive - Painting Plant is responsible for monitoring, inspecting, and improving the quality of painted products and processes to ensure they meet customer specifications, industry standards, and internal quality benchmarks. This role ensures the painting process is executed with minimal defects, optimal efficiency, and adherence to environmental and safety standards..
Key Responsibilities:
Inspection & Testing:
Conduct in-process and final inspection of painted components (visual, DFT, gloss, adhesion, salt spray, etc.)
Monitor surface preparation, pre-treatment, and paint application quality
Validate incoming paint and consumables for conformity
Process Control & Monitoring:
Monitor and control painting process parameters (e.g., oven temperature, curing time, paint viscosity)
Ensure compliance with process standards (SOPs, work instructions)
Conduct line audits and paint booth checks to maintain process integrity
Defect Management:
Identify and analyze painting defects (e.g., orange peel, runs, sags, blisters, pinholes)
Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) for non-conformities
Maintain defect tracking reports and drive continual improvement initiatives
Quality Systems & Documentation:
Prepare and maintain quality-related documents: inspection reports, control plans, FMEAs, 8Ds
Assist in internal and external audits (ISO 9001, IATF 16949, ISO 14001)
Ensure traceability of painted parts and paint batches
Cross-functional Coordination:
Work with production, maintenance, and paint suppliers to address quality issues
Support new product development (NPD) and first article inspections (FAI)
Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE):
Ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations related to paints and solvents
Promote safe handling and disposal of chemicals and hazardous materials
Key Skills and Competencies:
Strong knowledge of painting processes (powder coating, liquid paint, e-coat, etc.)
Familiarity with quality tools: 5 Why, 8D, Fishbone, FMEA, MSA, SPC
Hands-on experience with inspection instruments: DFT meter, gloss meter, cross-hatch tester
Analytical mindset and attention to detail
Proficient in MS Office and basic knowledge of ERP systems
Good communication and problem-solving skills
