The Quality Engineer/Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that all sheet metal, bending, welding, and fabrication components meet required customer and internal standards. This role manages inspection, process validation, defect prevention, and continuous improvement across sheet metal and fabrication lines.

2. Key Responsibilities A. Quality Inspection & Control

Conduct in-process and final inspections of sheet metal parts, fabricated assemblies, and welded components. Inspect dimensions, flatness, bend angles, hole patterns, and overall part accuracy. Verify weld quality, penetration, visual appearance, and compliance with welding standards. Review and maintain inspection records, check sheets, and NCR reports. Ensure calibration of measuring instruments (Vernier, Micrometer, Height Gauge, Go/No-Go gauges, Profile Gauge, etc.).

B. Process Monitoring & Improvement

Monitor quality performance in cutting, punching, bending, welding, grinding, machining, and assembly processes. Identify defects such as warping, scratches, misalignment, undercut, cracks, wrong bends, incorrect dimensions, etc. Perform root cause analysis (RCA) using tools like 5 Why, Fishbone, and Pareto charts. Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA). Work with production to optimize bending parameters, welding parameters, and fixture usage.

C. Documentation & Standards

Prepare and maintain: Inspection reports Control plans SOPs/Work Instructions Process audit reports NCR, CAPA, and deviation reports Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, IATF 16949 (if applicable), and customer-specific quality standards. Review drawings, fabrication standards, and engineering change notices.

D. Supplier & Material Quality

Inspect incoming sheet metal, raw materials, and bought-out items (BOI). Work with suppliers to resolve quality issues related to metal sheets, hardware, and fabrication components. Verify material test certificates (MTC) and ensure traceability.

E. Team Leadership (For Supervisor Role)

Manage a team of quality inspectors and guide them on inspection methods. Train operators and welders on quality standards, defect identification, and handling practices. Coordinate daily quality meetings with production, welding, and fabrication teams.

3. Required Qualifications Education

Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or related field.

Experience

2-7 years of quality experience in sheet metal, laser cutting, bending, welding, and fabrication environment. Day / Night Shift 12 hours Duty
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
