We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled
Quality Engineer
with expertise in
welding processes
to join our advanced fabrication team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring that welded products meet customer specifications, applicable codes/standards (such as ASME, AWS, ISO), and internal quality requirements. The role focuses on quality planning, inspection, documentation, and continuous improvement within a high-precision welding environment.
Key Responsibilities:Welding Quality Control:
Monitor and audit welding processes (TIG, MIG, MAG, Spot, and Robotic welding) to ensure compliance with WPS (Welding Procedure Specification), PQR, and industry standards.
Perform visual and dimensional inspection of welds per AWS D1.1, ASME Section IX, or customer-specific requirements.
Conduct or coordinate NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) activities (VT, PT, UT, RT) with qualified personnel.
Documentation & Compliance:
Maintain weld records, inspection reports, and certification documentation (WPS, PQR, WPQ).
Ensure compliance with quality standards (ISO 9001, ISO 3834, or others as applicable).
Participate in internal and external audits, including customer and third-party inspections.
Process Improvement:
Investigate weld defects and root causes using tools like 8D, 5 Whys, or Ishikawa diagrams.
Implement corrective and preventive actions to reduce rework and scrap.
Support continuous improvement initiatives in the welding department.
Collaboration & Support:
Work closely with welding engineers, production supervisors, and QA inspectors.
Train and mentor welders on quality standards, inspection criteria, and defect prevention.
Support new product introduction (NPI) and prototype evaluations for weld quality.
Qualifications:
Diploma / Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgy, or Welding Technology.
3-5 years of experience in a welding-intensive manufacturing environment.
Certification preferred:
AWS CWI
, CSWIP 3.1 / 3.2, or equivalent.
Familiar with codes such as
AWS D1.1
,
ASME Section IX
,
ISO 3834
, or EN ISO 9606.
Knowledge of metallurgy, weld symbols, NDT techniques, and quality tools (FMEA, CAPA, SPC).
Proficiency in MS Office, ERP systems, and quality documentation software.
