The Quality Engineer will be responsible for monitoring and ensuring the quality of all construction activities related to Over Head Service Reservoirs (OHSR), Over Head Tanks (OHT), and Underground Reservoirs (UGR). The role includes material testing, site inspections, documentation, and ensuring compliance with drawings, specifications, and IS codes.
Key Responsibilities
1. Quality Assurance & Compliance
Ensure all construction works are executed as per approved drawings, QAP, BOQ, and technical specifications.
Implement QA/QC procedures during foundations, raft, walls, slabs, staging, dome, and water-tightness works.
Verify quality of shuttering, centering, staging, reinforcement, and concrete.
2. Material Testing & Inspection
Conduct cube tests, slump tests, and maintain records.
Check reinforcement steel grade, cement quality, aggregates, admixtures, and other materials.
Coordinate with external laboratories for additional tests when required.
3. Pre-Concreting & Post-Concreting Checks
Inspect reinforcement placement, cover blocks, formwork stability, BBS compliance.
Verify alignment, dimensions, shuttering joints, and supports before pour.
Monitor curing process, surface finishing, and removal of forms/staging.
4. Documentation & Reporting
Maintain all QA/QC records:
Cube test register
Slump register
Pour cards
Material approval documents
IRs/NCRs
Consultant inspection reports
Prepare daily quality reports and submit to the Project Manager and client/consultant.
5. Coordination
Coordinate with Project Manager, Structural Engineer, Site Engineers, and Contractors.
Assist in preparing IR (Inspection Request) and attend inspections with consultants.
Ensure timely closure of non-conformities (if any).
6. Water Tightness & Finishing Quality
Monitor waterproofing works, construction joints, expansion joints, and sealing.
Check plastering, finishing, internal surfaces, and leak-proofing measures as per standards.
7. Safety & Standards
Ensure safe quality practices while conducting tests and inspections.
Ensure all works follow IS codes relevant to RCC, materials, concrete, and water retaining structures.
Experience & Eligibility
Diploma/B.Tech in Civil Engineering.
Experience: Minimum 3-5 years
in QA/QC for water retaining structures (OHSR, OHT, UGR, STP tanks, WTP structures).
Good understanding of testing standards, material specifications, and QAP.
