The Quality Controller Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all quality control activities within the rice mill. This role ensures that raw paddy, in-process rice, and finished products meet established quality standards, regulatory requirements, and customer specifications. The supervisor leads the QC team, manages sampling and inspection processes, and coordinates with production to maintain consistent quality across all milling operations.
Key Responsibilities1. Quality Control & Assurance
Monitor and inspect raw paddy, semi-processed rice, and finished rice for quality parameters (moisture, purity, grain length, broken %, chalkiness, foreign matter, etc.)
Ensure compliance with national standards (e.g., FSSAI) and customer requirements.
Implement and monitor standard operating procedures (SOPs) for quality at each stage of the milling process.
Conduct regular quality audits across receiving, milling, grading, and packing sections.
Approve or reject raw materials and finished products based on inspection results.
2. Laboratory Analysis
Supervise laboratory testing for moisture content, grain classification, admixture, and other parameters.
Ensure proper calibration and maintenance of quality control equipment.
Maintain accurate testing records and reports.
3. Team Supervision
Lead, train, and supervise quality control inspectors and lab staff.
Assign daily QC tasks and ensure compliance with sampling procedures.
Conduct periodic performance evaluations of QC team members.
4. Production Support
Work closely with the production team to address quality deviations during milling.
Identify process-related quality issues and coordinate corrective actions.
Validate process settings (whitener pressure, polishers, graders, destoners, etc.) to ensure optimal quality output.
5. Documentation & Reporting
Maintain proper quality records including test reports, calibration logs, deviation reports, and customer feedback.
Prepare daily/weekly/monthly QC reports for management.
Ensure traceability of batches through proper documentation.
6. Compliance & Safety
Ensure compliance with food safety systems (HACCP, ISO 22000, GMP, etc.).
Monitor hygiene and sanitation practices within the mill.
Participate in internal and external audits.
7. Continuous Improvement
Identify opportunities for quality improvement and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
Develop training programs for staff on quality awareness and best practices.
Support initiatives for reducing quality rejections and customer complaints.
Diploma / Bachelor's degree in Food Technology, Agriculture, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
Experience
3-7 years of experience in quality control within a rice mill or food processing unit.
Experience in supervising QC teams is preferr
