In-Process Inspection:
Setup Approval:
Verify tool/die setup, press tonnage, and part alignment before production.
First Piece Inspection:
Check initial sample for dimensions and appearance against drawing.
Process Monitoring:
Periodic inspection during production (hourly/lot basis).
Monitor burrs, wrinkles, cracks, and thickness variation.
Ensure correct lubrication and press settings are maintained.
Dimensional Inspection:
Use Vernier caliper, height gauge, micrometer, profile projector, or coordinate measuring machine (CMM) for precision parts.
Check hole positions, bend angles, and flatness.
Confirm tolerances per drawing (GD&T standards).
Surface Finish Inspection:
Check for scratches, dents, rust, or oil marks.
Ensure edges are free from sharp burrs and deformation.
Tool & Die Condition Verification:
Monitor tool wear, alignment, and die life.
Report any non-conformance or repeat defects due to tool issues.
Final Inspection:
100% or sampling inspection as per inspection plan (AQL/lot-based).
Verify packaging, labeling, and dispatch documentation.
Prepare final inspection report.
Documentation & Reporting:
Maintain inspection records, rejection data, and corrective actions.
Prepare daily rejection/rework reports and communicate with production and tool room teams.
