A Welding Quality Control (QC) Inspector ensures all welding operations meet technical specifications, safety regulations, and industry standards (e.g., AWS, ASME, ISO) through inspection, documentation, and testing. Key responsibilities include reviewing Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), verifying welder certifications, conducting pre/post-weld inspections (VT, NDT), and maintaining detailed quality records.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Pre-Welding Inspection: Verifying joint preparation, fit-up, material grades, cleanliness, and that the WPS is available and understood.
During-Welding Monitoring: Ensuring correct filler metals, preheat/interpass temperatures, and welding parameters are used.
Post-Welding Inspection: Performing visual inspections (VT) for cracks, undercut, and porosity, and overseeing NDT (UT, RT, MPI, LPT).
Documentation & Reporting: Generating inspection reports, maintaining non-conformity reports (NCRs), and ensuring material traceability.
Safety Compliance: Ensuring all welding activities adhere to health, safety, and environmental regulations
