Role Overview

The Quality Assurance Manager is a critical leadership role responsible for establishing, implementing, and maintaining a robust Quality Management System (QMS) across all manufacturing processes within the Kolkata plant. This role ensures that all our steel products consistently meet stringent national and international quality standards, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements. The manager is tasked with planning, coordinating, and implementing quality assurance programs and policies to drive continuous improvement, reduce internal/external failure costs, minimize waste, and enhance overall operational efficiency and profitability.

Key Responsibilities

A. Quality Management & Compliance:

? QMS Implementation: Develop, document, implement, and maintain the company's Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with ISO 9001:2015 standards and sector-specific requirements.

? Standards & Specifications: Ensure all manufactured steel products adhere to established quality parameters.

? Auditing: Plan and execute internal and external quality audits

? Regulatory Adherence: Ensure the plant operates in full compliance with all regulations pertaining to product quality and safety.

B. Process Control & Improvement

? Inspection & Testing: Oversee all types of testing applicable, ensuring all testing equipment is calibrated, and the testing procedures are accurate and reliable.

? Root Cause Analysis (RCA): Lead cross-functional teams in conducting thorough Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for major quality failures (internal and external) and customer complaints.

? Corrective & amp; Preventive Actions (CAPA): Drive the implementation and verification of effective Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) to eliminate recurrence of quality issues.

? Statistical Process Control (SPC): Utilize Statistical Process Control (SPC) and other quality tools to monitor process stability and implement continuous improvement projects.

C. Team Leadership & Development:

? Team Management: Manage, mentor, and develop a team of Quality Control (QC)

Engineers, Inspectors, and Lab Technicians.

? Training: Develop and deliver quality training programs for the QA/QC team and relevant production staff to raise quality awareness and competence across the plant.

? Performance Management: Set clear performance objectives for the team, conduct regular appraisals, and foster a culture of quality and accountability.

D. Stakeholder Management:

? Customer Interaction: Serve as the primary quality contact for customers, handling technical queries, managing complaints, and participating in customer audits and visits.

? Supplier Quality: Collaborate with the Procurement team to establish supplier quality standards and conduct vendor audits for critical raw materials (e.g., scrap metal, ferroalloys).

3. Skills & Competencies:

? Technical Expertise: Basic knowledge of metallurgy, knowledge or familiarity with steel manufacturing processes (casting, rolling, heat treatment, welding, fabrication) and the mechanical and chemical testing of steel.

? QMS Proficiency: high grade understanding and practical experience with ISO 9001:2015. Certification as an Internal or Lead Auditor is highly desirable.

? Analytical Skills: Strong ability to use tools to analyse data and drive data-driven decisions.

? Leadership & Communication: Exceptional leadership skills to motivate and manage a technical team, coupled with strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Bengali/Hindi.

? Problem-Solving: Proven track record in solving complex quality and process issues in a high-volume manufacturing environment.

4. Qualifications & Experience:

Education:

B.Tech / BE in Metallurgy, Mechanical, Production, or equivalent. Diploma holders with strong steel-industry experience will also be considered.

Minimum of

8-12 years

of progressive experience in Quality Assurance/Quality Control roles within the Steel/Heavy Engineering sector.

Industry:

Experience in Steel/Heavy Engineering.
