Job Summary

The Quality Control Inspector - Machine Shop is responsible for inspecting machined components to ensure they meet drawing specifications, quality standards, and customer requirements before dispatch.

Key ResponsibilitiesInspection & Quality Control

Perform

first-off, in-process, and final inspection

of machined components. Verify dimensions, tolerances, surface finish, and geometry as per drawings. Ensure inspection of CNC, VMC, Turning, and Conventional machined parts. Identify defects, deviations, and non-conformances.

Measuring Instruments & Gauges

Use measuring instruments such as: Vernier calipers Micrometers (OD/ID/Depth) Bore gauges Height gauges Dial indicators Thread gauges, plug gauges, snap gauges Ensure proper handling and care of instruments.

Documentation & Records

Maintain inspection reports and check sheets. Record rejection, rework, and deviation details. Prepare dimensional inspection reports (DIR) and first article inspection reports (FAIR). Ensure traceability of parts and inspection status.

Quality Improvement & Support

Coordinate with machine shop operators for corrective actions. Support root cause analysis for quality issues. Suggest corrective and preventive actions to reduce rejections. Ensure only accepted parts move to next stage or dispatch.

Calibration & Compliance

Ensure measuring instruments are calibrated and within validity. Follow ISO / IATF / customer-specific quality requirements. Adhere to company quality systems and procedures.

Safety & Housekeeping

Follow safety practices and use PPE. Maintain cleanliness and 5S in the inspection area.

Skills & Competencies

Strong ability to read and interpret

engineering drawings and GD&T basics

. Good knowledge of machining processes. Attention to detail and accuracy. Basic knowledge of ISO quality systems. Effective communication with production teams.

Qualification & Experience

Qualification:

ITI / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.

Experience:

2-5 years as QC Inspector in a machine shop environment.
