The Quality Control Executive is responsible for monitoring, inspecting, and ensuring the quality of raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods as per company standards, customer specifications, and applicable IS/ASTM standards. The role involves close coordination with production, maintenance, and dispatch teams to ensure consistent product quality and compliance with safety and regulatory norms.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct quality inspection of raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products.
Perform physical, chemical, and mechanical testing of steel products as per defined procedures.
Ensure adherence to IS/ASTM/Customer specifications.
Monitor process parameters and product dimensions during production.
Implement and monitor quality control procedures on the shop floor.
Identify deviations in process or product quality and take corrective actions.
Coordinate with production teams to minimize defects and rejections.
Assist in root cause analysis of quality issues and implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
Maintain inspection reports, test records, heat-wise and batch-wise quality data.
Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly QC reports.
Ensure proper documentation as per ISO standards and internal audits.
Maintain calibration records of measuring instruments and testing equipment.
Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and other applicable quality systems.
Support internal and external audits.
Ensure safety, environmental, and statutory compliance related to quality operations.
Support customer inspections and third-party inspections.
Ensure quality clearance before dispatch of finished goods.
Address customer complaints related to quality and assist in corrective actions.
Suggest process improvements to enhance product quality and reduce wastage.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives such as 5S, Kaizen, and Six Sigma (if applicable).
Train shop-floor personnel on quality awareness and best practices.
Key Skills & Competencies:
Strong knowledge of steel manufacturing processes (Billets, TMT Bars, Rolling Mill operations, etc.)
Understanding of quality standards (IS, ASTM, ISO).
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in MS Excel and basic reporting tools.
Effective communication and coordination skills.
Attention to detail and strong documentation skills.
Educational Qualification:
Diploma / B.Tech / B.E. in Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline.
Experience:
2-5 years of experience in Quality Control within a steel plant / manufacturing industry.
Experience in rolling mill or integrated steel plant preferred.
