Verify raw materials (e.g., steel plates, rods, forgings) meet required material specifications (grade, hardness, certifications).

Check for mill test certificates (MTCs) and conduct sample tests if needed.

Ensure traceability of critical components and materials.

2. In-Process Inspection

Inspect during various fabrication and machining stages:

Fit-up inspection before welding.

Dimensional checks after machining or fabrication.

Tolerance verification of critical parts (e.g., shafts, housings, gears).

Monitor welding processes for compliance with Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS).

3. Welding Quality Control

Inspect weld joints using visual inspection, gauges, and tools.

Dye Penetrant Testing (PT)

Ultrasonic Testing (UT)

Ensure welder qualifications are current and aligned with job requirements.

4. Dimensional and Geometric Verification

Use measuring instruments like

Vernier calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and height gauges.

CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) for precision assemblies.

Confirm GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) requirements on drawings are met.

5. Final Inspection and Testing

Perform visual, dimensional, and functional checks on finished products.

Check assemblies for alignment, fitment, torque values, and mechanical function.

Ensure painted or coated surfaces meet surface preparation and thickness standards (e.g., DFT checks).

6. Documentation and Reporting

Maintain inspection records and logs for traceability.

Prepare Inspection Test Plans (ITP) and Quality Assurance Plans (QAP).

Verify all quality documents before dispatch (e.g., inspection reports, NDT reports, welding logs, MTCs).
