QA Manager / Plant Head
1. Role Summary
This role drives end-to-end quality documentation governance across the plant, ensuring 100% compliance with customer specifications, internal SOPs, and audit requirements. The position is the backbone of file preparation, job card accuracy, proofing coordination, and complete traceability of inward-outward documentation.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. File Specification Preparation
Prepare and maintain customer-approved specification files for each job.
Ensure accuracy of board GSM, shade, die-line, punching profile, pasting style, and finishing details.
Coordinate with Prepress, Production, and Sales for version approval.
B. Job Card Creation & Control
Generate complete job cards with technical specs, routing, QC checkpoints, and change history.
Release job cards to production only after QA verification.
Track job card movement from Prepress ? Production ? QC ? Dispatch.
C. Change Control Management
Maintain revision history for all artwork, CAD, dies, and process documents.
Implement controlled distribution of new versions and retrieval of obsolete copies.
Ensure changes are signed-off by relevant stakeholders (QA/Prepress/Production/Sales).
D. Destruction Jobs (Controlled Disposal)
Execute controlled destruction of outdated files, artworks, plates, dies, and packaging materials.
Maintain accurate Destruction Logs with approvals from QA & Plant Head.
Ensure compliance with customer confidentiality requirements.
E. Documentation & Records Management
Maintain inward-outward register for all QA files, tools, proofs, and artworks.
Archive hardcopy and softcopy documents as per SOP and audit guidelines.
Ensure complete traceability for customer audits, GMP audits, and internal investigations.
F. Proofing Coordination
Manage proof approvals--first proof, wet proof, shade card, and dummy samples.
Liaise with Prepress and Printing teams to ensure samples match customer specifications.
Maintain proofing registers and approval records.
G. QA Support Activities
Assist QA inspectors with job setup verification.
Support Complaint Investigation Files (CIF) with relevant records and proofs.
Participate in internal audits & continuous improvement projects.
3. Skills & Competencies Required
Strong understanding of printing & packaging processes (offset, die-cutting, lamination, pasting).
Excellent documentation accuracy and record-keeping discipline.
Ability to interpret technical specs, artworks, CAD drawings, and job cards.
Good communication skills and cross-functional coordination.
High ownership, timeliness, and attention to detail.
4. Education
Graduate / Diploma in Printing Technology / Packaging Technology / QA.
Additional QA documentation training is an added advantage.
5. KPIs
Zero NC during customer/internal audits related to documentation.
On-time job card release (TAT compliance).
100% traceability for specs, proofs, & change controls.
Zero errors due to incorrect documentation.
