Documentation:
Records all inspection points and final reports, and compares findings with the specified acceptance criteria.
Compliance:
Ensures that all welding activities comply with applicable codes and standards such as AWS D1.1, ASME Section IX, and API standards.
Required skills and knowledge
Knowledge of welding processes, materials, and symbols.
Familiarity with applicable codes and standards.
Expertise in both visual inspection and various Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods.
Ability to understand and interpret technical documents, including specifications, procedures, and drawings.

Becoming a welding inspector
Many certified welding inspectors have a background in welding or mechanical engineering.
