Core Responsibilities

Quality Management System (QMS): Develop, implement, and maintain the Quality Management System (e.g., ISO 9001) for the extrusion and post-extrusion processes. Inspection and Testing: Oversee and perform all quality control checks, from raw material inspection (e.g., billet chemical composition, mechanical properties) to in-line checks (e.g., temperature, pressure, speed) and final product inspection (e.g., dimensional accuracy, surface finish, tensile strength, hardness). Defect Analysis and Corrective Actions: Identify, analyze, and document defects (e.g., surface imperfections, warping, dimensional inaccuracies). Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for production rejections and customer complaints. Implement Corrective and Preventative Actions (CAPA) in collaboration with Production and Engineering teams to minimize defects and improve process efficiency. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed and accurate records of all inspections, test results, quality control activities, and process deviations. Prepare quality reports and test certificates for customers. Team Leadership and Training: Supervise, train, and mentor the QC team (Inspectors and Engineers) on quality standards, inspection techniques, and the use of precision measuring equipment. Standards Compliance: Ensure all products and processes comply with relevant national and international standards (e.g., ASTM-B-221, BIS and ISO standards) and customer-specific requirements. Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives using methodologies like Total Quality Management (TQM) and 5S to enhance product quality and reduce waste/rework costs.

Technical Expertise

Profound knowledge of the Aluminium extrusion process (pre-heating, ram operations, cooling).
Expertise in Aluminium alloy specifications and metallurgical properties. Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, micrometers, Coordinate Measuring Machines - CMM, optical measurement machines).

Strong understanding of quality inspection and non-destructive testing (NDT) methods.

Process & Quality

Strong knowledge of Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001).
Proven ability in Statistical Process Control (SPC) and data analysis.
Excellent Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and problem-solving skills.
Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications.

Leadership & Soft Skills

Strong leadership and team management abilities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for internal and external stakeholders (production, engineering, customers, suppliers).
High level of attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to work effectively under pressure and time constraints.

Education & Experience

Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
Several years of experience (often 5+ years, with a portion in a supervisory/lead role) in quality control/assurance within the Aluminium extrusion or a related manufacturing industry.
