To lead and manage all aspects of the Quality Control function in the manufacturing of electrical transformers, ensuring compliance with industry standards (e.g., IEC, ANSI, ISO), customer requirements, and internal quality benchmarks. The QC Head will develop quality strategies, implement inspection protocols, and ensure product reliability and safety.
Develop, implement, and manage QC systems, processes, and policies.
Lead the QC team in day-to-day inspections, testing, and documentation.
Ensure that raw materials, components, and finished products meet all specified standards.
Define and maintain Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the QC department.
2. Inspection & Testing
Oversee all in-process and final inspection activities.
Ensure testing of transformers (routine, type, and special tests) as per applicable standards (IEC, IS, ANSI, etc.).
Ensure accurate documentation of test results and prepare quality reports for internal and external stakeholders.
3. Compliance & Standards
Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and customer-specific requirements.
Conduct internal audits and support external audits (customer/third-party).
Review and implement improvements from Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
4. Vendor Quality Assurance
Collaborate with the procurement and engineering teams to assess and qualify suppliers.
Conduct supplier audits and performance reviews.
Implement incoming inspection protocols and material certification reviews.
5. Team Management & Training
Build and mentor a competent QC team (inspectors, lab technicians, etc.).
Conduct regular training sessions for quality standards and inspection techniques.
Foster a culture of quality awareness across all departments.
6. Continuous Improvement
Initiate and support quality improvement projects (e.g., Six Sigma, 5S, Kaizen).
Analyze rejection trends, conduct root cause analysis, and lead problem-solving initiatives.
Key Requirements:Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering (preferred).
Additional certifications in Quality Management (e.g., Six Sigma, ISO Lead Auditor) are a plus.
Experience:
10+ years in a quality function within transformer or heavy electrical equipment manufacturing.
At least 3-5 years in a senior or leadership QC position.
Skills:
Strong understanding of transformer design, manufacturing processes, and testing.
Familiarity with electrical standards (IEC, IS, ANSI, IEEE).
Strong analytical, leadership, and communication skills.
Proficiency in MS Office, ERP, and quality management software.
Preferred Attributes:
Exposure to distribution and power transformer production.
Experience in handling customer complaints and third-party inspections.
Ability to work under pressure and drive cross-functional quality improvements.
