Education: B.E./B.Tech or Diploma in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering

Experience:

5-8 years in QC / final inspection / dispatch in transformer manufacturing

Experience with distribution and/or power transformer

Job Purpose

The QC Engineer - Tanking is responsible for ensuring quality compliance during tanking, core-coil insertion, oil filling, and final assembly of transformers, ensuring leak-proof construction, dimensional accuracy, safety, and adherence to applicable standards and customer specifications.

Key Responsibilities

1. Pre-Tanking Inspection

Verify tank fabrication quality, dimensions, and surface finish.

Check gasket grooves, flange flatness, bolt holes, and accessories mounting.

Ensure tank cleaning, shot blasting, painting, and curing as per procedure.

Verify readiness of core-coil assembly before tanking.

2. Tanking & Core-Coil Assembly Inspection

Supervise core-coil lowering into tank and ensure proper alignment and clearances.

Check placement of gaskets, torque tightening of bolts, and sealing surfaces.

Verify correct installation of bushings, tap changer (OCTC/OLTC), conservator, and accessories.

Ensure compliance with approved drawings and BOM.

3. Oil Filling, Drying & Impregnation

Monitor vacuum drying and oil filling processes.

Verify transformer oil quality (BDV, moisture, acidity) before and after filling.

Ensure oil filling levels, temperatures, and vacuum parameters meet specifications.

Maintain oil handling cleanliness and contamination control.

4. Leak Testing & Sealing Quality

Conduct and witness pressure / vacuum leak tests.

Identify, report, and ensure rectification of oil leakages.

Ensure long-term sealing reliability of gaskets, flanges, and fittings.

5. Quality Documentation & Compliance

Maintain inspection checklists, quality records, and test reports.

Ensure compliance with IS / IEC / IEEE standards and internal QAP.

Support customer, third-party, and statutory inspections.

Raise NCRs and ensure corrective and preventive actions.

6. Coordination with Cross-Functional Teams

Coordinate with Production, Testing, Maintenance, and Stores teams.

Communicate quality issues and improvement actions to Operations.

Support root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.

7. Safety & EHS Compliance

Ensure safe practices during lifting, tanking, oil handling, and pressurization.

Enforce PPE usage and safety protocols in tanking area.

Ensure compliance with environmental and oil spill control measures.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ?25,000.00 - ?45,000.00 per month
