The QC Engineer will be responsible for overseeing the quality assurance processes related to the design, manufacture, testing, and delivery of electrical transformers (power and distribution types). The role ensures that products meet industry standards (such as IEC, ANSI, IS), customer specifications, and internal quality requirements before reaching the market.
Key Responsibilities:
Inspection & Testing:
Conduct incoming inspection of raw materials (core, winding wires, insulation materials, tanks, etc.).
Perform in-process quality checks during winding, core assembly, tanking, oil filling, and final assembly stages.
Carry out routine and type testing on transformers including IR, ratio, vector group, impedance, load loss, no-load loss, temperature rise, and partial discharge tests.
Documentation & Reporting:
Maintain and review test certificates, inspection records, non-conformance reports (NCRs), and calibration logs.
Prepare inspection and test plans (ITPs) and quality assurance plans (QAPs).
Ensure proper documentation for customer approval and third-party inspections.
Compliance & Standards:
Ensure compliance with IEC, IEEE, IS, and client-specific quality standards.
Support audits from third-party agencies and customers.
Root Cause Analysis & Continuous Improvement:
Lead root cause analysis for quality issues and implement corrective/preventive actions.
Drive process improvement initiatives using tools like 5 Whys, Fishbone Analysis, or FMEA.
Vendor & Customer Coordination:
Evaluate and audit suppliers for quality performance.
Coordinate with customers during stage-wise and final inspections.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Electrical / Mechanical / Production Engineering.
Minimum 3-5 years of QC experience in a transformer or heavy electrical equipment manufacturing environment.
Skills & Competencies:
Strong understanding of transformer manufacturing processes and quality standards.
Familiarity with electrical testing equipment (e.g., TTR, insulation testers, CT/PT analyzers, etc.).
Proficiency in MS Office and basic knowledge of ERP systems.
Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
