Job Description

A QC (Quality Control) Engineer for fabrication work is responsible for ensuring that fabricated products meet specified quality standards. This involves overseeing the production process, conducting inspections, and implementing quality control procedures to identify and address any deviations from the required specifications. Key Responsibilities:

Inspection and Testing:

Conducting visual and dimensional inspections of fabricated parts and assemblies, ensuring they align with drawings, specifications, and industry standards.

Quality Control Procedures:

Developing, implementing, and monitoring quality control plans, including establishing inspection checkpoints and defining acceptance criteria.

Non-Conformance Management:

Identifying and documenting non-conformances, initiating corrective actions, and tracking their resolution.

Documentation and Reporting:

Maintaining accurate records of inspections, tests, and non-conformances, generating reports for management and clients.

Process Improvement:

Participating in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the quality of fabrication processes and products.

Compliance:

Ensuring adherence to relevant industry standards (e.g., ASME, ISO) and company quality policies.

Collaboration:

Working closely with production, design, and other teams to address quality issues and implement solutions.
Specific Tasks May Include:

Reviewing fabrication drawings and specifications. Verifying material certifications and traceability. Conducting welding inspections and other NDT (Non-Destructive Testing). Monitoring fabrication processes and identifying potential defects. Ensuring proper packaging and handling of finished products. Performing final product inspections and sign-offs. Participating in root cause analysis of quality issues.
Skills and Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is often preferred. Relevant experience in quality control, particularly in fabrication or manufacturing. Knowledge of welding, machining, and other fabrication processes. Familiarity with relevant quality standards and codes. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Proficiency in using quality control tools and equipment. Experience with quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001).
