The QC Engineer - Fabrication is responsible for ensuring the quality of fabricated components and assemblies as per design specifications and industry standards. The role involves inspection, testing, documentation, and coordination with production and design teams to maintain high-quality output in all fabrication activities.
Key Responsibilities:
Quality Inspection & Control:
Inspect raw materials, in-process fabrication, and finished components to ensure adherence to drawings and specifications.
Verify dimensions, weld quality, surface finish, and assembly accuracy using appropriate measuring tools.
Conduct visual and dimensional inspections at various fabrication stages.
Identify non-conformances and ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented.
Ensure welding, cutting, and assembly processes meet company and industry quality standards.
Documentation & Reporting:
Prepare inspection reports, quality checklists, and non-conformance reports (NCR).
Maintain proper records of material traceability and inspection results.
Support internal and external audits related to fabrication quality.
Coordination & Communication:
Coordinate with the design, production, and project teams to resolve quality issues.
Provide feedback on fabrication quality improvements and process enhancement.
Ensure finished products are inspected and approved before dispatch.
Process Improvement:
Monitor and analyze defects or rework data to identify root causes.
Recommend process improvements to minimize quality issues.
Support implementation of quality management systems (QMS).
Skills & Competencies:
Strong knowledge of fabrication processes (cutting, bending, welding, finishing, assembly).
Familiarity with quality standards and inspection tools (Vernier, Micrometer, Welding Gauge, etc.).
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
Good analytical, documentation, and reporting skills.
Knowledge of ISO standards and safety practices in fabrication.
Qualifications & Experience:
Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or Production Engineering.
2-5 years of experience in
fabrication quality control

interior fit-out, furniture, or metal fabrication industry
.
