The specific duties of a QC professional handling an HPLC machine typically include:
Sample Analysis
: Conducting routine and non-routine analysis of raw materials, in-process, finished products, and stability samples using HPLC to ensure they meet approved specifications and test procedures.
Instrument Operation & Maintenance
: Operating, calibrating, and maintaining various HPLC systems (e.g., Agilent, Waters, Shimadzu) as per Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). This includes performing daily checks, preventive maintenance, and coordinating repairs with service engineers.
Troubleshooting
: Identifying and resolving instrument and method-related issues (e.g., out-of-specification (OOS) results, deviations) to ensure smooth analytical work.
Documentation & Data Integrity
: Accurately recording all observations, results, and data in laboratory notebooks and ERP, ensuring data traceability and compliance with documentation practices.
Compliance & Audits
: Adhering to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), and other regulatory guidelines (e.g., ICH, USFDA). This also involves supporting internal and external audits.
Method Development/Validation (as needed)
: Assisting in developing, validating, or transferring analytical methods for new products or processes, depending on the role's seniority and specific departmental needs (e.g., R&D collaboration).
Reagent/Standard Preparation
: Preparing and standardizing chemical reagents, mobile phases, and reference standards required for analysis.
Inventory Management
: Monitoring and managing inventory of solvents, columns, and instrument spares.
Technical Skills
