1. Quality Control (QC) Responsibilities

(Inspection & Testing - "Doing the checks")

Inspect materials, equipment, and workmanship at site or factory Verify compliance with: Project specifications Drawings and approved shop drawings Codes and standards (ISO, ASTM, ASME, ACI, AWS, etc.) Conduct and witness inspections such as: Incoming material inspection In-process inspection Final inspection Perform or witness tests (e.g., welding, concrete, NDT, pressure tests) Identify non-conformities and raise

NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports)

Verify corrective and preventive actions Maintain inspection records, test reports, and checklists Monitor calibration status of measuring and testing equipment
2. Quality Assurance (QA) Responsibilities

(System & Process - "Ensuring the system works")

Ensure quality procedures and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) are implemented Review and approve: Method statements Quality plans ITPs Ensure work is executed according to approved procedures Participate in internal and external audits Monitor compliance with ISO 9001 or project-specific QMS Support continuous improvement activities Ensure proper document control of quality records
3. Site & Coordination Responsibilities

Coordinate inspections with: Site engineers Consultants Clients Third-party inspectors Issue inspection requests (IRs) and follow up for approvals Provide technical guidance to site teams on quality issues Attend quality meetings and toolbox talks Monitor subcontractor quality performance
4. Documentation & Reporting

Prepare and maintain: Daily inspection reports Material approval logs Test reports and certificates NCR and CAR (Corrective Action Report) logs Ensure traceability of materials and workmanship Compile final quality dossiers / handover documents
5. Health, Safety & Compliance Support

Ensure inspection activities comply with HSE requirements Stop work if quality issues pose safety or compliance risks Promote quality and safety awareness on site
