Roles and Responsibilities:
In an electrical department, QA/QC engineers ensure electrical systems, components, and projects meet quality standards, regulations, and project specifications. Their roles encompass inspection, testing, auditing, and ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards. They also document findings, analyze data, and propose corrective actions to improve quality.
Key Responsibilities:
Inspection and Testing:
Conduct inspections of electrical materials, components, and systems to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications. This includes visual inspections, dimensional checks, continuity and insulation resistance tests, and instrument calibrations.
Compliance:
Verify that all electrical work complies with relevant codes, regulations, and project specifications, and ensure adherence to quality control plans.
Auditing:
Conduct internal and external quality audits to evaluate project quality performance, identify areas for improvement, and ensure adherence to quality standards.
Documentation:
Maintain QA/QC reports, inspection records, and test certificates for compliance, as well as prepare and submit quality reports and corrective action reports.
Training and Communication:
Train site engineers and technicians on electrical quality control practices and industry standards. Communicate effectively with project managers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure adherence to quality standards.
Problem Solving:
Identify and address non-conformance issues, develop corrective actions, and ensure their effective implementation to prevent recurrence.
Continuous Improvement:
Contribute to the development and implementation of quality improvement initiatives and processes to enhance overall quality performance.
Handover:
Oversee the QA/QC aspects of project closeout, ensuring all documentation, punch list items, as-built documents, and final inspections are completed satisfactorily.
