Responsible for performing meticulous inspections of mechanical parts and assemblies at various stagesof production (receiving, in-process, and final) to verify conformance with technical drawings, specifications, and regulatory requirements. The inspector identifies non-conformities, documents findings, and collaborates with production and engineering teams to implement corrective actions.
Key Responsibilities
Inspection and Testing
: Conduct visual and dimensional inspections of incoming materials, in-house manufactured components (machined, fabricated, assembled), and final products using precision measuring instruments.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate and detailed records of all inspection activities, test results, and quality-related data. Prepare inspection reports, such as First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR) in accordance with AS9102 requirements, and generate Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) when necessary.
Compliance and Standards:
Ensure all processes and products adhere to internal quality management systems and external aerospace industry standards (e.g., AS9100, ISO 9001, FAA regulations).
Problem-Solving & Continuous Improvement:
Participate in root cause analysis for quality issues and contribute to the development and implementation of effective route cause and corrective action (RCA).
Collaboration:
Work closely with cross-functional teams, including design engineers, manufacturing personnel, and suppliers, to address quality concerns and improve overall product reliability and process efficiency.
Equipment Maintenance
: Perform basic calibration checks on measuring instruments and ensure their reliability for use.
Required Qualifications and Skills
Education: A Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field is typically required.
Technical Expertise:
? Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical documents.
? Strong understanding and practical application of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) symbols and surface finish specifications.
? Familiarity with various manufacturing processes like machining, welding, fabrication, and assembly.
Experience
: Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in a quality inspection role within the Aerospace or Defence manufacturing industry is often required.
Certifications (Preferred):
Relevant certifications, such as an ASQ Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) designation or Non-destructive Testing (NDT) Level I/II certification, are a plus.
Soft Skills:
Strong attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication skills (verbal and written), and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment.
