A Manual Tester is responsible for thoroughly evaluating mobile and web applications to identify defects, inconsistencies, and performance issues. They work closely with development teams to ensure that the software meets quality standards and is ready for release.
Key Responsibilities:
Test Planning:
Collaborate with stakeholders to define test objectives, test cases, and test plans for mobile and web applications.
Test Execution:
Execute manual test cases to identify defects, verify functionality, and validate user interfaces on various devices and browsers.
Bug Reporting:
Document and report defects, issues, and anomalies in a clear and structured manner, including steps to reproduce the problems and their severity.
Regression Testing:
Conduct regression testing to ensure that new features or changes do not introduce new defects and do not impact existing functionality.
Compatibility Testing:
Test applications on different operating systems, browsers, and mobile devices to ensure cross-platform compatibility.
Usability Testing:
Assess the user-friendliness of the application and identify any usability issues.
Performance Testing:
Evaluate the performance and responsiveness of web and mobile applications, identifying bottlenecks or slowdowns.
Documentation:
Maintain detailed test documentation, including test plans, test cases, and test reports.
Communication:
Collaborate with developers, product managers, and other team members to communicate test results, progress, and any blockers.
Continuous Improvement:
Stay updated with industry trends, best practices, and testing tools to enhance the testing process.
Skills and Qualifications:
Knowledge of software testing methodologies and best practices.
Familiarity with test case design and test execution.
Proficiency in using test management tools (e.g., Jira, TestRail).
Understanding of different mobile platforms (iOS, Android) and web browsers.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Attention to detail and ability to follow test scripts precisely.
Excellent communication skills for reporting issues and collaborating with the team.
Basic understanding of programming languages and scripting is a plus.
Knowledge of automation testing tools (e.g., Selenium, Appium) is a bonus.
Relevant certifications (e.g., ISTQB) can be an advantage.
Education:
A bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field is typically preferred but not always required, especially if the candidate has relevant experience and skills.
Experience:
2-5 years of experience.
