About The Job:

• Senior Python Backend Engineer with strong low-level design (LLD) expertise to support the design, development, and review of production-grade backend systems.
• The ideal candidate is comfortable-owning design decisions, writing high-quality Python code, and mentoring team members through best engineering practices. Detailed responsibilities include:

Essential Job Functions:

• Design and implement production-grade backend services using Python
• Own and contribute to low-level design (LLD), including trade-offs and technical documentation
• Follow and promote clean, maintainable, and testable code practices
• Perform thorough code reviews with a focus on correctness, scalability, and maintainability
• Collaborate closely with product and engineering stakeholders to deliver features end to end
• Mentor team members on design principles, patterns, and Python best practices
• Ensure reliability, performance, and observability of backend systems
• Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering standards and practices

Qualifications:

• Years of Experience: 6-8 yrs

Core Python & Backend

• Advanced Python (including async/await, concurrency, and performance considerations)
• Asynchronous programming (asyncio, async frameworks)
• Strong experience with FastAPI, Pydantic, and modern Python typing
• Data processing experience using Polars (or similar columnar data frameworks)
• API design (RESTful APIs; familiarity with OpenAPI/Swagger)

Architecture & Design

• Test-Driven Development (TDD) and strong testing practices
• Domain-Driven Design (DDD)
• Event-driven architecture
• Solid understanding of SOLID principles, GRASP, DRY, and Clean Code
• Experience applying common design patterns appropriately
• Ability to reason about trade-offs in low-level design

Quality, Reliability & Operations

• Strong unit, integration, and contract testing practices (e.g., pytest)
• Experience with logging, monitoring, and observability (metrics, tracing)
• Understanding of performance profiling and optimization
• Familiarity with error handling, resilience patterns, and fault tolerance

Tooling & Ecosystem

• Version control with Git and collaborative workflows (PR-based development)
• Experience working in CI/CD pipelines
• Familiarity with containerization (Docker; Kubernetes a plus)
• Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, etc.)
• Comfort working in cloud environments (AWS/GCP/Azure -- any one is sufficient)
