The PYP/MYP French Teacher will be responsible for delivering high-quality French language instruction to students from Grades 1-5(Primary Years Programme), 6-7(Middle Year Program) in alignment with IB philosophy, inquiry-based learning, and school curriculum goals. The teacher will foster a positive and engaging learning environment that promotes international-mindedness, cultural appreciation, and effective communication in French.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Learning
Plan, prepare, and deliver dynamic French lessons in line with the
IB PYP/MYP framework
and school curriculum.
Integrate
inquiry-based, student-centered approaches
that encourage curiosity, exploration, and collaboration.
Design age-appropriate activities to develop listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in French.
Use
differentiated instruction
to cater to diverse learning needs and language levels.
Incorporate technology, multimedia resources, and real-life contexts to enhance language acquisition.
Foster
international-mindedness
by linking French language learning with global perspectives and cultures.
Curriculum & Assessment
Collaborate with grade-level teams and PYP/MYP Coordinator to align French curriculum with IB standards.
Prepare lesson plans, unit plans, and assessments consistent with
PYP/MYP scope and sequence
.
Use formative and summative assessments to track student progress and provide constructive feedback.
Maintain accurate student records and contribute to progress reports.
Classroom Environment & Student Engagement
Create a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom atmosphere.
Encourage active student participation through role-plays, storytelling, songs, games, and interactive projects.
Promote
self-learning, creativity, and cultural appreciation
in students.
Collaboration & Professional Development
Participate in
PYP/MYP planning meetings, workshops, and professional development sessions
.
Engage with parents through conferences, updates, and communication to support student progress.
Contribute to whole-school events, assemblies, and cultural celebrations.
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Qualification:
Bachelor's or Master's in French / Languages / Education (with specialization in French).
Preferred:
B.Ed. or equivalent teaching qualification.
Certification:
IB PYP/MYP training (Category 1/2 workshops) preferred.
Experience:
Minimum
2-3 years of teaching French
, preferably in an IB PYP /MYP international school setting.
Minimum CEFR levels-B1-B2 for PYP.
C1-C2 for MYP.
Freshers with strong language proficiency and teaching skills may be considered for junior levels.
Language Proficiency:
Native or near-native fluency in French.
Strong English communication skills (spoken & written).
