Role Overview

The PYP English Teacher will deliver engaging and inquiry-based English language instruction aligned with the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP) framework. The teacher will foster literacy skills, promote critical thinking, and create a supportive learning environment for young learners.

Key ResponsibilitiesTeaching & Learning

Plan and deliver English lessons aligned with PYP curriculum standards. Implement inquiry-based, student-centered teaching methods. Build foundational literacy skills including reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension. Use differentiated instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners. Integrate technology and modern teaching tools in the classroom.

Curriculum Planning & Development

Collaborate with the PYP Coordinator and team to design learning engagements and unit planners. Develop creative lesson plans that align with the IB Learner Profile and Approaches to Learning (ATL). Maintain detailed documentation of unit planners, reflections, and learning outcomes.

Assessment & Reporting

Conduct formative and summative assessments to track student progress. Provide constructive and timely feedback to students. Maintain accurate assessment records and prepare report cards. Identify and support students with learning needs.

Student Engagement & Classroom Management

Create a safe, positive, and engaging language-learning environment. Manage classroom behavior consistent with IB expectations and school policies. Encourage student participation, discussions, and presentations.

Parent Communication

Maintain regular communication with parents regarding student progress and development. Conduct Parent-Teacher Meetings, workshops, and orientation sessions as required.

Professional Responsibilities

Participate in IB training, school events, and staff meetings. Contribute to co-curricular activities, assemblies, and literacy events. Uphold school values and maintain high standards of professionalism.
