The Senior Accountant & Purchase Manager is responsible for managing end-to-end accounting, taxation, statutory compliance, and procurement activities for a small chemical manufacturing plant in India. The role ensures
financial discipline, GST and statutory compliance, effective vendor management, cost control, and uninterrupted availability of raw materials
required for production.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting, Finance & Taxation
Maintain books of accounts as per
Indian Accounting Standards (Ind AS) / Companies Act, 2013
Handle
day-to-day accounting
, general ledger, AP/AR, and fixed asset accounting
Prepare
monthly MIS, P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statements
Manage
GST compliance
:
GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, reconciliation with GSTR-2B
Input tax credit (ITC) tracking and utilization
E-invoice and e-way bill compliance (as applicable)
Handle
Income Tax compliance
:
TDS (Sections 194C, 194J, 194Q, etc.)
Advance tax, TDS returns, and Form 26Q/24Q
Coordinate
statutory and tax audits
, GST audits, and assessments
Liaise with
CA, tax consultants, banks, and authorities
Manage banking operations, fund planning, and working capital monitoring
Costing & Inventory Accounting
Monitor
raw material consumption, production losses, and yield variances
Implement
cost accounting systems
for batch / process manufacturing
Valuation of inventory (raw materials, WIP, finished goods)
Support
stock audits and physical inventory verification
Purchasing & Procurement
Plan and manage procurement of:
Raw materials, chemicals, solvents
Packaging materials
Plant spares, consumables, and services
Vendor identification, evaluation,
price negotiation, and contract finalization
Issue and monitor purchase orders in line with production planning
Ensure procurement at
best cost while meeting quality and safety requirements
Track supplier performance, delivery timelines, and credit terms
Manage imports (if applicable): BOE, customs duty, IGST, and documentation
Statutory, Regulatory & Compliance Support
Support compliance with:
Factories Act, MSME Act
Hazardous Chemicals Rules
Maintain records for inspections, audits, and management reviews
Qualifications
B.Com / M.Com / MBA (Finance)
CA / CMA / CPA - Preferred
Experience
7-10 years
experience in any
manufacturing
industry
Strong hands-on exposure to
GST, costing, and procurement
Experience working in
small or mid-sized plants
with multitasking responsibility
Skills & Competencies
In-depth knowledge of
Indian taxation and statutory laws
Strong negotiation and vendor management skills
Advanced Excel & ERP/accounting software proficiency
High level of accuracy, integrity, and ownership
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
