will oversee all purchasing and material management activities to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement of raw materials, parts, and services. The role involves managing vendor relationships, negotiating pricing, maintaining inventory accuracy, and supporting production schedules. This position plays a key role in optimizing cost, quality, and delivery performance across the supply chain.
Key Responsibilities
Select and evaluate vendors, negotiate contracts, and manage purchase orders and releases through the ERP (Plex/MRP) system.
Ensure all parts, materials, and services are procured at competitive prices and delivered on time.
Maintain accurate inventory levels and conduct regular cycle counts.
Coordinate with suppliers to ensure material readiness and on-time shipment.
Manage sourcing and procurement of raw materials, MRO, and specialty items as required.
Maintain supplier and sub-supplier relationships to ensure continuous supply chain flow.
Develop and implement supplier stocking programs and safety stock strategies.
Forecast material requirements, manage reorder points, and ensure adequate stock availability.
Coordinate logistics for inbound and outbound shipments, addressing any supply or shipment issues.
Collaborate with Production, Engineering, and Quality teams to ensure material readiness for new jobs.
Monitor supplier performance and take corrective actions to maintain quality and delivery standards.
Support continuous improvement initiatives for cost reduction and process efficiency.
Prepare and analyze purchasing reports and provide data-driven insights to management.
Perform other duties as assigned by senior management.
Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor's degree in
Science, Chemical Engineering,
Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
, with good understanding of chemicals and polymers.
8+ years of experience
in Purchasing, Procurement, or Materials Management in a manufacturing, chemical or industrial environment.
Certification in
APICS, CPP, or SCMP
preferred.
Proven negotiation and vendor management skills.
Strong understanding of
SAP systems
and purchasing workflows.
Proficiency in
Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
.
Excellent organizational, analytical, and follow-up skills.
Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
