Job Title: Purchaser - Suitings & Shirtings

Key Responsibilities:

1. Procurement Planning & Vendor Management

? Identify, evaluate, and finalize suppliers and mills for suiting and shirting fabrics.

? Build strong relationships with vendors to ensure quality, timely deliveries, and best pricing.

? Negotiate rates, payment terms, and delivery schedules.

? Maintain and review Approved Vendor List (AVL) periodically.

2. Material Sourcing & Market Research

? Stay updated with the latest fabric trends, quality innovations, blends, and seasonal collections.

? Source new fabric types (e.g., cotton, polyester blends, Giza cotton, linen blends) suitable for customer preferences and regional trends.

? Monitor competitor offerings to benchmark product quality and cost.

3. Purchase Order Management

? Raise purchase orders based on inventory planning, sales forecasts, and store requests.

? Ensure accurate product specs: fabric composition, GSM, width, color, pattern, etc.

? Track order fulfillment and resolve delays or discrepancies with vendors.

4. Inventory & Stock Control

? Maintain optimal stock levels across all outlets and warehouses.

? Coordinate with warehouse and retail teams for timely replenishment.

? Minimize excess stock and dead inventory through careful planning.

5. Quality Assurance

? Coordinate with the QC team to inspect incoming fabric lots.

? Ensure compliance with predefined quality standards like shrinkage, color fastness, weave quality, etc.

? Address any quality issues with suppliers and arrange for replacements or credit notes.

6. Documentation & Reporting

? Maintain procurement records, contracts, and delivery schedules.

? Prepare cost analysis, vendor performance reports, and monthly procurement summaries.

? Ensure compliance with internal audit requirements and statutory guidelines (like GST documentation if applicable).

7. Cross-functional Coordination

? Collaborate with design, merchandising, and retail teams for product planning.

? Support marketing campaigns by ensuring timely availability of fabric for new launches and promotions.

? Participate in exhibitions or vendor meets to identify sourcing opportunities.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications:

? Knowledge of fabric specifications and textile terminologies.

? Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.

? Familiarity with ERP or inventory software (e.g., SAP, Tally).

? Diploma/Degree in Textile Technology, Fashion Merchandising, or Supply Chain Management preferred.
