Plan assortments across categories, styles, fabrics, and price points for B2C markets.
Work closely with design teams and vendors to develop customized collections.
Finalize styles, fabrics, colors, and fits based on market research and sales data.
2. Vendor Development & Management
Source, evaluate, and onboard reliable vendors and manufacturers.
Negotiate pricing, MOQ, delivery timelines, payment terms, and quality standards.
Maintain an approved vendor base and conduct periodic performance reviews.
3. Procurement & Ordering
Plan purchase quantities based on sales forecasts, inventory levels, and promotions.
Raise and manage purchase orders through ERP systems.
Track order execution, shipments, and ensure on-time deliveries to warehouses/stores.
4. Inventory & Stock Management
Monitor stock levels to prevent overstocking and stock-outs.
Analyze fast-moving and slow-moving SKUs and initiate corrective actions such as reorders or markdowns.
Coordinate with warehouse and retail teams for optimal stock allocation.
5. Costing & Budget Management
Work within allocated budgets for procurement.
Negotiate best rates to improve gross margins.
Maintain accurate records of costing, landed price, and markups.
6. Quality Control
Ensure that goods procured meet required quality standards.
Arrange for sample approvals and conduct inspections when needed.
Coordinate with QC team or external labs for testing, especially for kids wear (safety and fabric tests).
7. Coordination & Communication
Collaborate with sales, merchandising, and marketing teams to align product availability with promotions and seasons.
Regularly update management on purchase status, vendor performance, and category-wise sales.
8. Market & Competitor Analysis
Visit local and national markets to understand trends and pricing.
Monitor competitor products and pricing strategies.
Adjust buying strategy based on consumer behavior and sales trends.
Skills Required
Minimum
5 years
of core experience in
Kidswear buying/purchasing
.
Textile experience is mandatory with B2C.
Strong negotiation and communication skills.
Understanding of textiles, sizing, and apparel quality standards.
Familiarity with ERP systems and purchase order management.
