The Purchase Officer will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring goods and products required for the supermarket. The role involves maintaining inventory levels, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring timely delivery of quality products at competitive prices.
Key Responsibilities:
Identify and source reliable suppliers for various categories including grocery, perishables, household, and non-food items
Supermarket experience is mandatory
Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules to ensure cost-effective purchasing
Raise purchase orders and ensure timely delivery of goods to the store/warehouse
Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with the inventory team for restocking requirements
Evaluate supplier performance based on quality, pricing, and delivery timelines
Maintain and update the approved supplier list and purchase records
Ensure proper documentation and compliance with company procurement policies
Coordinate with accounts for timely vendor payments
Handle product returns or replacements due to quality issues or damage
Stay updated on market trends, pricing fluctuations, and new product availability
Required Skills:
Good negotiation and communication skills
Knowledge of inventory and procurement software (e.g., Tally, SAP, Zoho, or POS systems)
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple vendors
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation
Educational Qualification:
Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, or a related field
