The Purchase Officer will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing construction materials, equipment, and services required for ongoing and upcoming projects. The role ensures timely procurement, cost efficiency, and quality compliance to support smooth project execution.
Key Responsibilities:
Identify reliable suppliers and vendors for construction materials, machinery, and services.
Request and evaluate quotations, negotiate terms, and finalize purchase orders.
Maintain and update supplier database and material price lists.
Coordinate with site engineers, storekeepers, and project managers for material requirements.
Ensure timely delivery of materials to construction sites.
Verify and maintain purchase records, invoices, and delivery challans.
Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and procedures.
Track and manage inventory levels to avoid shortages or overstock.
Follow up on pending orders and resolve delivery issues.
Assist in vendor evaluation and performance review.
Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor's Degree in Commerce / Business Administration / Civil Engineering or equivalent.
3-10 years of experience in procurement within the construction or real estate industry.
Strong negotiation and communication skills.
Strong computer skills & reporting systems are a must.
Knowledge of construction materials, vendors, and market trends.
Proficiency in MS Office and ERP systems (if applicable).
Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
