Job Title: Purchase Manager ( only food industry)

Job Purpose:
The Purchase Manager will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring raw materials, packaging, and other supplies required for the food manufacturing and retail business. The role ensures cost-effective purchasing while maintaining quality, safety, and compliance with food industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Procurement & Sourcing
Develop and implement purchasing strategies for raw materials, packaging, machinery, and consumables.
Identify, evaluate, and qualify suppliers based on quality, reliability, price, and compliance with food safety standards.
Ensure timely procurement to avoid production delays.
Vendor Management
Maintain strong supplier relationships and build long-term partnerships.
Negotiate contracts, payment terms, and delivery schedules.
Conduct regular performance reviews of vendors.
Cost Management
Monitor market trends and price fluctuations in raw materials (sugar, flour, oils, dairy, etc.).
Achieve cost savings through strategic sourcing and bulk negotiations.
Prepare cost analysis reports and maintain procurement budgets.
Compliance & Quality
Ensure suppliers comply with FSSAI, HACCP, ISO, and other food safety regulations.
Work closely with Quality Control (QC) and Production teams to maintain standards.
Manage audits and documentation related to supplier compliance.
Inventory & Logistics
Collaborate with warehouse and production to maintain optimum stock levels.
Coordinate logistics for timely delivery of goods.
Reduce wastage and improve inventory turnover ratio.
Team Management & Reporting
Lead and guide a team of purchase executives or officers.
Generate MIS reports on purchase trends, vendor performance, and cost savings.
Report regularly to senior management on procurement status and challenges.
Key Skills & Competencies:
Strong negotiation and analytical skills.
Knowledge of procurement processes in the food industry.
Understanding of food safety and compliance requirements.
Vendor development and relationship management.
Proficiency in ERP / SAP / Tally or other procurement software.
Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Commerce, Food Technology, or related field (MBA preferred).
7-10 years of experience in procurement, with at least 3-5 years in the food industry.
Strong track record in cost optimization and vendor management.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
Cost savings achieved vs. budget.
On-time delivery of materials.
Supplier compliance and audit scores.
Reduction in material wastage and stock-outs.
Vendor performance improvement.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: ₹90,000.00 - ₹100,000.00 per month
