to lead and optimize our procurement operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for strategic sourcing, vendor management, cost control, and ensuring timely procurement aligned with production and project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
1. Vendor Management
Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers following stringent evaluation processes.
Maintain and update a preferred vendor list.
Conduct supplier audits ensuring compliance with company quality and safety standards.
Evaluate supplier performance on cost, quality, delivery, and reliability metrics.
Resolve vendor-related issues and maintain long-term business relationships.
2. Strategic Procurement & Sourcing
Develop and execute purchasing strategies aligned with production and project schedules.
Source and procure materials such as steel plates, beams, channels, pipes, welding consumables, castings, forgings, bearings, and lubricants.
Negotiate long-term supply agreements to ensure optimal pricing, quality, and timely delivery.
Drive cost optimization and procurement efficiency.
3. Material Planning & Cost Control
Collaborate with Production, Planning, and Project teams to forecast material requirements.
Maintain optimal inventory levels, ensuring minimal stockouts and excess inventory.
Monitor and control procurement budgets, analyze cost variances, and achieve annual cost-saving goals.
4. Documentation & Compliance
Manage procurement documentation including Purchase Orders, contracts, and delivery schedules in
SAP-MM (S/4 HANA)
.
Ensure compliance with company policies, statutory guidelines, and import/export regulations.
Coordinate with the Finance team for timely vendor payments and reconciliations.
5. Team Leadership & Coordination
Lead, mentor, and guide a team of purchase executives and officers.
Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Planning, and Quality teams.
Implement process improvements and best practices in procurement and supply chain operations.
Qualifications & Experience
Education:
B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Production, Industrial, or Metallurgical Engineering (MBA in Supply Chain / Materials Management preferred)
Experience:
12-15 years of procurement experience in
heavy fabrication, structural steel, or capital equipment manufacturing
industries.
Technical Knowledge:
Strong understanding of steel grades, fabrication processes, and mechanical components.
Proficiency in
SAP-MM module (S/4 HANA)
.
Knowledge of logistics, import/export documentation, and vendor evaluation.
