Ensure uninterrupted, compliant, and cost-effective procurement of raw materials, packaging, consumables, and MRO items for a chemical manufacturing plant by building strong supplier relationships, optimizing payment terms, and coordinating closely with Stores and cross?functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement Execution:
Convert PRs to POs; track deliveries; align with production plans and
coordinate consistently with Stores
for stock levels, GRNs, and re?order points.
Sourcing & Vendor Development:
Identify and onboard new vendors
; conduct capability, quality, and compliance checks; maintain an Approved Vendor List; run RFQ/RFP and comparative statements.
Negotiation & Cost Management:
Negotiate smartly
on price,
payment terms
, credit days, delivery, and value?adds to achieve best total cost of ownership (TCO); track market trends for key chemicals and logistics.
Commercials & Documentation:
Draft accurate POs/Work Orders with specs, taxes, Incoterms, delivery schedules; ensure complete documentation (COA, MSDS/TDS, test reports); coordinate with Accounts for invoice booking and
adherence to payment terms

Quality & Compliance:
Liaise with QA/QC and Production on incoming quality; drive NCR closures and CAPA; ensure EHS, HAZMAT/ADR transport, and statutory compliance relevant to chemicals.
Inventory & Logistics Coordination:
Work with Stores on min-max, safety stock, and slow/non?moving reviews; align transporters, resolve shortages/damages, and ensure OTIF.
Systems & Reporting:
Maintain ERP discipline across PR?PO?GRN; publish weekly/monthly MIS on savings, price trends, vendor performance, OTIF, and open POs.
Stakeholder Management:
Collaborate with Production, R&D, QA/QC, Accounts, and Sales; maintain
compassionate

Qualifications & Experience
Graduate/Diploma; preference for
B.Sc./M.Sc. (Chemistry)
or
B.E./B.Tech (Chemical)
; supply chain/procurement certifications are a plus.
