Plan and carry out buying strategies for raw materials, packaging, consumables, and services to support production and daily operations.
Vendor Management:
Build and maintain a reliable list of suppliers. Evaluate them based on quality, price, delivery time, and compliance.
Negotiation & Cost Control:
Negotiate prices, payment terms, and delivery schedules to save costs and ensure steady supply.
Order Management:
Create and follow up on purchase orders. Make sure materials arrive on time as per the production schedule.
Inventory Coordination:
Work closely with the inventory and stores teams to manage stock levels and avoid running out or overstocking.
Quality & Compliance:
Make sure all purchased items meet quality standards and all documents meet company and legal requirements.
Market Awareness:
Keep an eye on market trends, prices, and supplier changes to find cost-saving opportunities and avoid risks.
Reporting & Analysis:
Keep records of purchases, prepare reports, and provide insights on buying performance, supplier ratings, and savings.
Candidate Profile
Education:
Bachelor's degree in commerce, Engineering, or a related field. An MBA/PGDM in Supply Chain or Operations is a plus.
Experience:
At least 5 years of experience in buying or sourcing, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Skills:
Good working knowledge of ERP systems (SAP/Oracle or similar)
Strong understanding of buying processes and negotiation methods
Excellent communication, coordination, and supplier relationship skills
