The Purchase Executive will be responsible for handling end-to-end procurement activities, including vendor sourcing, quotation management, negotiation, order processing, and coordination with suppliers. The role requires strong knowledge of industrial products, negotiation skills, and familiarity with supply chain processes within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Procurement & Sourcing
Identify, evaluate, and develop reliable vendors and suppliers for industrial products.
Obtain and compare quotations to ensure competitive pricing and quality.
Prepare purchase orders and ensure timely approval as per company policy.
Conduct market research to identify price trends, new products, and potential suppliers.
Maintain vendor performance records and update the approved vendor list.
2. Negotiation & Cost Control
Negotiate rates, payment terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers to achieve cost-effective procurement.
Work towards cost reduction and value engineering initiatives without compromising on quality.
Monitor purchase budgets and help control procurement expenses.
3. Order Management
Process purchase requisitions from internal departments.
Ensure timely issuance of purchase orders and follow up on order confirmation and dispatch.
Track deliveries and coordinate with stores/warehouse for material receipt and inspection.
Handle discrepancies, delays, or quality issues with suppliers and ensure resolutions.
4. Coordination & Documentation
Coordinate with accounts for invoice verification and vendor payments.
Maintain accurate purchase records, documentation, and supplier communication.
Ensure compliance with company policies, purchase procedures, and audit requirements.
Collaborate with departments such as Stores, Accounts, and QC to ensure smooth workflow.
5. Supplier Relationship Management
Build and maintain long-term relationships with key suppliers.
Evaluate supplier performance based on quality, delivery, and responsiveness.
Schedule supplier meetings and review sessions to improve collaboration.
Required Skills and Competencies:
Strong knowledge of industrial products, mechanical/electrical components, and engineering materials.
Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word) and ERP/SAP systems.
Good analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Detail-oriented with strong follow-up skills.
Ability to handle multiple purchase requirements and meet deadlines.
Qualifications:
Education:
Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical / Industrial / Electrical Engineering or B.Com / MBA in Supply Chain Management.
Experience:
Minimum
2-5 years
of relevant experience in industrial or engineering procurement.
Industry Preference:
Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Supply, or Trading Sector.
