Requirements
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Purchase Engineer to join our procurement and supply chain team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years' experience in purchasing, vendor management, and material sourcing, combined with a strong technical understanding of engineering products and components. This role requires close coordination with suppliers, internal departments, and project teams to ensure timely procurement of high-quality materials at competitive costs.
As a Purchase Engineer, you will be responsible for managing the end-to-end procurement process, from identifying requirements and sourcing vendors to negotiating contracts and ensuring timely delivery. You will also play a key role in driving cost savings, improving vendor performance, and supporting new product development through strategic purchasing initiatives.
Key Responsibilities

  • Procurement Management
  • Handle day-to-day purchasing activities, including preparing and issuing purchase orders, quotations, and contracts.
  • Identify reliable vendors and suppliers, evaluate quotations, and ensure cost-effectiveness without compromising quality.
  • Develop and maintain a robust supplier database to support business requirements.
  • Vendor Development & Relationship Management
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors to ensure consistent supply and service quality.
  • Conduct vendor evaluations and performance reviews to improve sourcing efficiency.
  • Negotiate payment terms, lead times, and service agreements to secure favorable conditions.
  • Material Sourcing & Cost Optimization
  • Source raw materials, equipment, and components based on engineering specifications and project needs.
  • Conduct market research to identify new suppliers and alternative products for cost reduction.
  • Support value engineering and cost-saving initiatives across procurement activities.
  • Coordination & Collaboration
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders such as engineering, production, quality, and finance teams to align procurement activities with business objectives.
  • Ensure timely availability of materials to avoid production delays.
  • Support new project development by sourcing materials and services as per design requirements.
  • Compliance & Process Improvement
  • Ensure procurement activities comply with organizational policies, contracts, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of purchase orders, contracts, and supplier correspondence.
  • Identify process gaps in purchasing workflows and recommend improvements for efficiency.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
  • 3+ years of proven experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain functions, preferably in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement processes, vendor development, and contract negotiations.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar) and proficiency in MS Excel and reporting tools.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to evaluate supplier proposals and make data-driven decisions.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work under pressure.
