The Purchase cum Store Assistant is responsible for assisting in procurement of raw materials, consumables, and spare parts while also managing day-to-day store operations. The role ensures timely purchase, proper inventory management, and smooth supply of materials to support uninterrupted production.
Key Responsibilities:
Purchase Responsibilities:
Source and procure raw materials, consumables, valves, regulators, safety equipment, spares, and engineering items required in gas manufacturing.
Prepare and process purchase requisitions, RFQs, and purchase orders.
Collect quotations, prepare comparative statements, and assist in supplier negotiations.
Ensure timely delivery of materials to avoid production downtime.
Maintain vendor database and assess supplier performance (cost, quality, delivery).
Coordinate with QA/QC for inspection of critical equipment and consumables.
Ensure all purchases comply with safety standards, industry regulations, and company budget.
Store & Inventory Management:
Receive incoming materials, verify against purchase orders/invoices, and prepare GRN (Goods Receipt Note).
Safely handle and store cylinders, valves, regulators, and other gas-related equipment.
Maintain inventory records in ERP/Excel/manual register.
Monitor stock levels and raise purchase requests for replenishment.
Issue materials to production/maintenance teams as per requisitions.
Conduct periodic stock verification and support internal/external audits.
Maintain proper labeling, segregation, and safe storage of hazardous items as per statutory norms.
General & Compliance Duties:
Coordinate with Accounts for vendor bills, GRN submission, and timely payments.
Support statutory and ISO/quality audits by maintaining updated purchase and store documentation.
Ensure compliance with
safety guidelines, OHSAS, and environmental regulations
in material handling and storage.
Maintain cleanliness, orderliness, and safety within the store premises.
Key Skills & Competencies:
Knowledge of purchase and store operations in
gas manufacturing / industrial gases industry
.
Familiarity with handling and storing
cylinders, valves, regulators, and high-pressure equipment
.
Strong vendor management and negotiation skills.
Proficiency in MS Office, Tally/ERP systems.
Good record-keeping, coordination, and communication skills.
Awareness of statutory norms, safety standards, and audit requirements in the gas industry.
Qualification & Experience:
Education: Graduate / Diploma in Materials Management / Supply Chain.
Experience: 0-1 years in purchase & stores, preferably in
industrial gases or engineering manufacturing industry
.
Knowledge of Tally ERP is Mandatory
Knowledge of
safety compliance, ISO documentation, and hazardous material handling
is desirable
