The Punching & Die Cutting Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining punching and die-cutting machines used in the production of printed and packaging materials. The operator ensures that materials are cut to precise specifications, maintains production efficiency, and upholds quality and safety standards.
Key ResponsibilitiesMachine Operation
Set up and operate
die-cutting and punching machines
(such as Bobst, Heidelberg, or similar brands).
Adjust machine settings according to job specifications (cutting pressure, registration, sheet size, etc.).
Load and unload materials efficiently to meet production targets.
Monitor operations to detect and correct malfunctions or deviations in process.
Quality Control
Inspect finished products to ensure accurate
cutting, creasing, perforation, and shape alignment
.
Verify samples against customer-approved standards and ensure defect-free output.
Maintain accurate records of quality checks and production counts.
Maintenance
Perform
routine maintenance
and cleaning of machines.
Report major mechanical issues to maintenance or engineering teams immediately.
Ensure all safety guards and equipment are in place and functioning properly.
Documentation & Reporting
Maintain
daily production logs
, including material usage, downtime, and job completion details.
Coordinate with supervisors and quality control personnel on production progress.
Safety & Compliance
Follow company
safety procedures, PPE use, and operational guidelines
.
Keep the work area organized and free from hazards.
Support continuous improvement and waste reduction initiatives.
Qualifications and Skills
Education:
Minimum 10th pass / ITI / Diploma in Printing Technology or Mechanical trade preferred.
Experience:
1-5 years of experience operating
die-cutting, punching, or related finishing machines
in the print or packaging industry.
Technical Skills:
Knowledge of
machine setup, pressure settings, and registration alignment
.
Familiarity with
paperboard, corrugated, and laminated substrates
.
Ability to interpret
production orders and layout drawings
.
Soft Skills:
Attention to detail and quality consciousness.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Teamwork and good communication skills.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to stand for long hours.
Ability to lift materials up to 25 kg.
Good eyesight and hand-eye coordination.
Work Environment
Factory/production floor environment with noise, dust, and machinery.
Shift work may be required depending on production schedules.
