We are seeking a skilled Pump Operator to manage the operation and maintenance of pumps in the Steel Melting Shop (SMS). The role involves ensuring continuous water supply and circulation for cooling systems, maintaining pump performance, and supporting smooth plant operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate pumps and maintain water circulation systems in SMS (furnace cooling, CCM, hydraulic systems, etc.).
Monitor pump performance, pressure, flow, and temperature during shifts.
Check and maintain oil levels, lubrication, and mechanical seals.
Identify and report abnormalities, leakages, vibrations, or unusual noise in pumps.
Assist in preventive and breakdown maintenance of pumps, valves, and pipelines.
Maintain logbooks of pump operation, readings, and shift activities.
Coordinate with mechanical and electrical teams for repairs and servicing.
Ensure compliance with safety and housekeeping standards at the pump house.
Support utilities and SMS operations by maintaining continuous water supply.
Key Skills & Competencies:
Knowledge of centrifugal and reciprocating pumps used in SMS/industrial plants.
Basic troubleshooting and maintenance skills.
Ability to work in shifts and handle emergency situations.
Safety awareness in handling utilities.
Teamwork and coordination ability.
Qualifications:
ITI / Diploma (Fitter/Mechanical) or equivalent.
2+ years of experience as Pump Operator in Steel/SMS/Power/Process Plant.
