A school's Public Relations Officer (PRO) manages communication, builds reputation, and fosters relationships between the institution and its community (students, parents, media, alumni) by creating positive narratives, handling media, organizing events, and developing marketing materials to attract applicants and enhance brand image.
Core Duties & Responsibilities
Media Relations: Writing press releases, handling media inquiries, developing media contacts, and securing positive coverage.
Internal Communications: Keeping staff, students, and parents informed about school news, events, and policies.
External Communications: Managing outreach to the wider community, local businesses, and government bodies.
Brand & Reputation Management: Crafting and maintaining the school's public image, managing crises, and promoting its unique value (e.g., IB curriculum).
Event Management: Planning and executing events like open days, fundraisers, and award ceremonies.
Marketing & Digital Presence: Developing promotional materials, managing websites/social media, and running campaigns to attract students.
Stakeholder Relations: Building strong ties with parents (PTA), alumni, and community leaders.
