Job Summary:

The PTW Machine Operator (Tacking) is responsible for operating the Plate Tack Welding (PTW) machine efficiently to assemble and tack weld built-up sections as per drawing and production requirements. The operator ensures adherence to quality standards, machine safety, and production schedules.

Key Responsibilities:

Operate the

PTW (Plate Tack Welding)

machine for beam/tapered member assembly and tacking. Set up the machine as per job specifications, drawings, and welding parameters. Align and fix flange and web plates accurately before tacking. Perform

tack welding

ensuring correct dimensions, squareness, and joint gaps. Monitor and maintain machine performance, report any malfunctions or abnormalities. Ensure proper identification and tagging of completed assemblies. Coordinate with

quality inspectors

for first-piece approval and in-process inspection. Maintain proper

housekeeping

and follow all

safety protocols

in the work area. Assist in minor maintenance or adjustment of the PTW machine when required. Record daily production and downtime reports accurately. Ensure tacked assemblies are ready for further welding or H-beam line processes.

Skills & Competencies:

Knowledge of

PTW machine operation

and

tacking sequence

. Ability to read and understand

fabrication drawings

. Basic understanding of

welding techniques (MIG / SAW)

. Familiar with

measuring instruments

(tape, square, vernier, etc.). Safety-conscious and quality-oriented. Good teamwork and communication skills.

Qualification & Experience:

Qualification:

ITI / Diploma in Mechanical, Fitter, or Welding trade.

Experience:

2-5 years in a PEB or heavy fabrication industry operating PTW or similar machines.

Pay: ?25,000.00 - ?30,000.00 per month
